South County Rhode Island

South County, Rhode Island consists of Charleston, Coventry, East Greenwich, West Greenwich, Westerly, Richmond, Hopkinton, Narragansett, South Kingston, North Kingston, and Exeter. This county takes up about 100 miles of the most beautiful eastern sea border found on the East Coast. Charleston is the location of Ninigret Park. This park plays venue to many popular, annual events including the Charlestown Seafood Festival, Rhythm & Roots Music Festival, and the Big Apple Circus. Also located in the area are the new U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service headquarters and the Kettle Pond Visitor Center where you will be able to experience Rhode Island hands on.

Coventry is the largest area in all of Rhode Island. This town is noted as being one of the most famous historical areas in the state. The homestead of General Greene, the young soldier that served under former President George Washington, is still preserved and open to tourists. The entire region is full of old colonial-style homes for you to marvel at as you take a leisurely stroll or bike ride. This is one of the most people scenes in all of Rhode Island. East Greenwich is the best location to head to when you’re hungry and looking for the best place around to eat. The area boasts the best fine dining experience in the eastern part of the state.

West Greenwich is the local hub for most business activities. If you have wandered to Rhode Island on business, rather then pleasure, this will be the town that you frequent the most. Westerly is the most popular summer resort community that Rhode Island has to offer. The downtown area is full of old Victorian-style homes and businesses that still remain untouched after all these years. The waterfront properties along the Atlantic Ocean are the perfect backdrop for moonlight strolls along the beach. The last few little towns in the area offer you the best beach experiences that you will find anywhere.

Each town offers its own little special touch of historical features with the relaxing sound of the ocean waves in the background. Anywhere you travel throughout South County; you are guaranteed to walk the steps of many great men that walked before you. This has come to be the main attraction for all tourists venturing to Rhode Island.
